I steam clean my carpets.
I only do them once or maybe twice a year.
The steam cleaner has no chemicals so it doesn't harm the carpets. It freshens them up, raises the pile where it has had furniture on it and the main walkways. Never have the temperature too high and don't press too hard.
Anything else you want to know just ask.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Thanks, so what do you use? I will be using a steam cleaner with a rectangular plate, it also serves as a wallpaper stripper, is this what you're using? do you just vacuum up after steaming?
thanks

I tried to get a stain out once with my Polti and it took the colour out of the carpet as I went too close and hard and had to claim for a new carpet on my home insurance, so take care. I used the tile grouting type adapter.:hello:0

Mine is a steam cleaner that looks like a vacuum cleaner. I do hover after after I've steamed the carpets.
When I steam mine the steam head just rests on the carpet as I move it slowly across. I work in blocks so I know where I have been as the carpet doesn't look any different. The carpet doesn't get wet, if it does you are moving too slow.
I have never tried with the wallpaper striper attachment. The only concerns I would have would be the temperature and concentration of the steam. It either of these is too much it could leave lines/groves in the carpet. (They don't hover out...:o)
I would probably try a section which will is hidden behind furniture first.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I steam clean my carpets but it has a special head for carpet & upholstery cleaning.
Mine came with various attachments other than this, including a wallpaper stripper & I'd never chance using something like that to clean the carpets with as it just isn't suitable. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
