Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sat 20th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning OS chums!
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads! Hope you all have a great day.
flissh - big hugs honey, the time will go quicker than you think.
Halight - we were told once they insulated the loft that you were not allowed to put anything back up there, so they suggested we board a bit of the loft that they wouldn't insulate. We have too much stuff for that which is why we didn't have it done in the end.. we needed the storage space!
Penpin - thank you for the gumtree recommendation. I have advertised in 'BegBorrowSwap' which is a bit like Freecycle. I sourced a neighbour a handyman a month or so ago from there so hoping to have success wth a gardener.
Gers - good to read you again
Had a good day yesterday - managed to do my injections without too much trauma though my blood sugar level monitor showed me being 20.6 which is stupidly high! Still, only day one so onwards and upwards. All I need now is to stop crying before I do it.. :rotfl::rotfl:. It's just nerves I think. It doesn't hurt in the slightest except a bit of a stinging sensation for a few mins afterwards.
Weather was lovely though a bit windy. Had to rescue a couple of tomato plants that were getting battered by it. My OH put them on the doorstep for now til I can get out there and plant them up with supports in their grow bags. Have to check the neglected gooseberry bush too, it's over in the corner out of sight and gets forgotten but the OH says it has fruit on it.
My plans for today are to sort through some paperwork if the weather isn't favourable or spend the afternoon in the garden and hopefully have another BBQ. My OH, having sucessfully lit his very first BBQ last week (I usually do it!) has now got the bug and has bought half the butchers shop for us. I am guessing if it rains, our George Foreman will be in constant use! He will call over and see his father first of course.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday - warm gentle
for anyone who wants or needs one.

Good morning all
A cloudy start for the longest day here. We were toying with the idea of going to the Solstice but am glad now we didn't. Seems the roads were totally gridlocked. We did it four years ago and it was a fantastic night with perfect weather - would be hard to repeat such an experience.
We picked our first runner beans yesterday :j, also went to the market and got some bargains from the butcher. My freezer is now tidy and well-stocked.
First job for the morning is to make a Father's Day card and two birthday cards.
MSD - well done with your first jab!
Crazychik - congratulations on completing your walk.
Hope everyone's day goes well, will catch up later

Morning.
Sunny start here with some light clouds. Going to skip church this morning and go about delivering father's day card to my dad and the wife's dad. That will take us to Penzance where we will spend the afternoon with Sis in law at their quarry. Well it was a quarry, now it's a hideaway cabin overlooking st Micheals mount.
Church this evening is 'Church in the pub' One of a seriesof events where we take the church, music, bad etc to the local pub .... worked great last time, so looking forward to this one.
Truro 7.30 Swan Inn if you are in the area....
Had a great steak last night, The American freind came over bearing meat.... (imported to their own base shop) Marinated and absolutely delicious just med done on the BBQ. Mine weighed about 20oz!
Well, time to walk the dog and egt the paper..... CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good morning. Happy Fathers Day to all dads and a hug for those remembering fathers that are no longer with us.
I can see a tiny bit of blue sky so would be nice if we can get out into the garden today.
Beef has been in the SC since last night. Not sure whether we will have it for lunch or dinner at the moment.
Kids are with me, H still in bed so they will have to wait to give him his card.
Mountain of ironing to be done but luckily H managed to pick up a fairly decent iron that had money off so only £12 spent on a replacement. Lets hope this one last a bit longer than its predecessor......
I ought to wash the car too seeing as how it's dry. I vaccuumed it out the evening we got home from hols so really the outside needs to match the inside LOL!
Have a good day everyone OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Main job is ironing which I hope to get done asap, then dog walking. Would also like to tidy the paperwork mountain on my desk so can have a good start tomorrow.
My Dad is on hol at the moment so will send him a text in a min, but will pop round fil this afternoon, then off to KFC which is oh's choice :rotfl:he is very cheap (luckily)
MSD - each time it will get easier.

Morning all,
Happy Fathers day to all our dads, and hugs to those missing their dads xx
Nice day here today, I think we are off to a local county fair today, we went last year and it was great, terrier racing, ferret racing etc, I loved it, will take a picnic with us as the food last year was soooo expensive.
So not a lot of os going on here today, I have stripped the bed, and got that in the wm, OH can put the fresh stuff on when he gets back from the car boot sale, (payback for him waking me up early ).
Will go and have a rummage in the freezer in a while, and get some thing out for tea.
Grass needs cutting later garden is looking good, yesterday a tiny robin hopped into the conservatory and was eating the greenfly off of my tomato plants :T
Oh and also we went to the woods yesterday with little dog, and came across a fledgling woodpecker, obviously just flown the nest, as it would fly about 2 foot then stop, and try again, little dog thought it was fair game, so we spent the next 5 mins chasing the dog, who was chasing the bird , luckily she did not manage to get it, and we stood and watched it doing its fly / dance thing. I only hope it got the idea of flying before a predator came along.
Crazychick, well done to you xx
Diva, I promise you will get used to the jabs, my dad does it three times a day, and does not feel a thing xx
Have good days all, and hugs where needed x0 -

Morning all
It's dry here at the moment, so washing is on the line. We are off to MIL's for a late lunch today, so no cooking for me, the downside is no leftovers, lol.
I need to go through some photos today I'm going to scan some of them so I have them on my pc.
I need to go & move some more rubbish from my spare room, I've lost a summer skirt & I'm sure it's in there somwhere.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning
Crazychick Well done :T :T
Diva Well done on your first injection it will get easier. My DDad has type 2 diabetes that is controlled by tablets plus he is obsessive about not eating anything he shouldn't. He keeps his sugar to 5 or 6  Mum & I decided that we'd be terrible and would find it so hard not to eat sweet thingsMy MIL has recently had a visit with her diabetic nurse as her insulin wasn't working very well - it turned out she was putting the injection in the same place & had created a lump under the skin where nothing could get through   You'll soon sort it & it'll become 2nd nature to you. Enjoy your bbq or grill depending on the weather
Well the party last night was a great success with no trouble or anything else. All the kids had a blast and were a joy to be with & watch. We stayed in the background and people watched all the 'dating rituals'. Only DS2 and I are up yet as we didn't get to bed until after 1am.
Roast lemon chicken, new potatoes & salad for tea tonight, lunch is soup leftover from last night. I hope that everyone has a good day sorry for 'mioilering' on xxx0
