I took my watch ( a new Fossil watch) to be repaired the dundee branch at the end of april as the little side knob had broken .They told me it would be repaired within 31st may.I received a call and went in to collect it at the beginning of june.when I left the shop I noticed the watch had condensation under the glass, so I took it back inside and they said they would repair it within a week.I went on holiday and came back a few days ago.I hadn't received any calls from the store so I decided to go today to check on my watch.I went in and they handed me the watch without the second hand and with a big scratch on the side. This watch was a wedding gift so it had a sentimental value as well as financial. When I complained the sales assistant was very arrogant and insisted he didn't have my phone number even though he had a left a message on my mobile the first time.He then went on saying that he thought I didn't want the seconds hand and he said it was completely rusty so they had to remove it because of the steam that had entered the glass for their fault.Anyway he was quite rude, considering I am a customer I felt very upset and interrupted me many times and raised his voice at me.He took my watch and told me it would be another eight weeks before my watch would be repaired.

I would write a strong letter to head office.
I've had similar idiocy there. I took a metal cuff watch to have the battery replaced. It was meant to be a while you wait job.
The back was quite hard to remove, so they said they'd have to take a pin out of the cuff to get better access. They did this, got the back off, replaced the battery, then realised they're lost the pin (all in front of me - it was either on the floor or in his apron pocket but he didn't bother looking)
It was WEEKS before a replacement pin (which, natch, they didn't have any of) was sent by a different office. The back was all scratched from his attempts to remove it. The new pin doesn't match. They had to file down the end of the pin, and in the process, they fouled up the cuff. So glad it's not an expensive watch....My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
You were just unlucky enough to meet an idiot. Most watch repairers including Timpson employees will warn you if they think they may damage the watch.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
