Hi, I am having trouble getting credit and apparently its because I don't have a credit history.
I want one that is going to build my history, but I need to be approved first  Obviously I will have to settle for a high APR, how about barclay card? I need one that will accept me even though I have little history, saves me having searches on my account.
Thanks

capital one gave me a card with two defaults on my account.
Since then I have never had a late payment so it looks better on my account.
It seems strange that banks like to see that you have already got a credit card but I suppose it tells them how well you will manage the one they give you.0 -
Try opening a next directory or Argos card. all of which report to the CRA. Please make SURE to pay off immediately as apr is very highI owe £3233 @ 0%0

Following on from a "stores own" card, I have come across the toys r us card. I dont have a clue what any of it all means
What do you think? And what do you think the chances are getting one are?

This is not a store card. This is a full-scale credit card (owned by MBNA judging by the look of the Summary Box). You can try this one, but as you are already having truble, I think it is better to start with a proper store card(s) or one of these credit cards: Capital One, Aqua, Vanquis, Barclaycard Initialiwanttosave wrote:Following on from a "stores own" card, I have come across the toys r us card. I got a Capital One card after paying a £200 deposit.
Fair enough my limit is only £200 but at least i know its manageable.0 -

I was in a similar position to you a year or so ago, having never previously owned a credit/store card and very little history to go on, so started off with Capital One's basic card with a £500 credit limit.
A few months later I applied for and got the basic Barclaycard with a £950 limit, and my Cap One limit was increased to £900.
After around 6mths I applied for a Tesco card, which was initially refused but I appealed the decision and had to send in bank statements/proof of income etc before they accepted me.
More recently I applied for and got a LTSB Advance card, with 0% interest and a decent limit, which I was over the moon with and feel I've achieved what I set out to do in a little over a year.
I used the cards for all my spending, rather than using my debit card, but made sure I retained what I'd spent so I could clear the cards in full every month and I've not paid a penny in interest doing this.
I think either Capital One or Barclaycard would be your best starting point based on my own experience.
Good luck!
