Interesting that it's strange for these figures to be released on Saturday, don't you think ?, apparently what is even stranger is they were leaked and going to be released today. I feel it strange that these have been released at the weekend, when perhaps less people watch the news than in the week, I wonder why.
Just to add to that, I wonder if a big song and dance will be made about these figures as has been the case for the past few months............... I await what will probably be a deafening silence from the media.0 -

But 99% of the population have pretty much zero interest in the news that a house price website is reporting that it's asking prices this month are pretty much exactly the same as last month. You could send this news via text to everyone's mobile and most would just shrug.
Hardly the moon landing, is it?0 -
Strange that, cos when they report house asking prices have risen, then all hell breaks loose and it's on every front page, along with the usual 'green shoots' bla de bla.0

Who reports on house price asking prices? I only ever see articles on the Nationwide, Halifax and Landregistry figures. And, with full apologies for probably being completely naive and lacking in conspiracy theories, the articles normally just tell me whether they've gone up or down.
I'm talking mainstream media here (newspapers, BBC etc) that the vast majority of the population look at, not niche website or stupid property blogs.0 -
Are the rightmove figures taken from initial asking prices when the house 1st goes on the market?
If so, they are now starting lower then having to reduce after a while as opposed to the last few months of starting higher then reduce.
Yes, the price of the property when it first arrives on rightmove.
Rightmove has seen a 6.6% decline since their peak, which I think their peak was early 2008, though I may be wrong on that.0 -
I agree, although it's strange that when a rise is reported by any the various indices, it gets more coverage than the moon landing did.
You think? Or do you think you notice more because it's an interest of yours?
I ask as a genuine question, not a snipe. I've always thought that the news seems biased on any subject that you have a real passion for, but seems strangely balanced when all you want is a quick update on a passing topic that you only have a mild curiousity for.0 -

That's probably a fair observation, although the reporting or should I say the non reporting of the Haliwide figures when they decrease seems to be quite stark, compared to a rise, although I concede, if you don't have an interest in a certain issue, details are likely to pass you by.0 -

So are the Guardian or Telegraph not mainstream enough for you?

Or is just possible that your biases mean that you blank out things that don't fit your 'profile', either?0 -

It's cute that you've found the links.
In all seriousness then, it'll be interesting to see if they report this non-move tomorrow then.
Out of interest, what's my profile? The profile of not really caring?0
