Amazon help please

Can anyone help me I recently sold a dvd on amazon and today i've recieved this email

Hi there I was wondering how I would arrange a refund as the discs I have received are not working and badly scratched. Im very disappointed as I have had to pay extra money to try and get them fixed without any luck!

I don't know how to respond as the disc weren't scratched and played fine when I sent them. They were sent 1st class and package well.

On Amazon the buyer is always right :(

Ask them to return the DVD and when you get it back you need to refund their original payment in full. Buyers on Amazon can return anything for any reason and get a full refund.

I would ask the customer to return the items to you.

I know you say the items wasn't damaged, but perhaps you made a mistake? Get them back to inspect. If they are damaged, then I would provide a full refund.

If they are not damaged, I would provide a refund of the item price less the postage. (You can then re-list the item)

If you think the item has been damaged by the customer, you could refuse to refund.

Unfortunately with amazon, the customer is always right and if the customer raises a stink, amazon will refund the customer. If the customer is trying it on, then the customer usually doesn't take matters that far anyway.

My concern is they say they've tried to have the item repaired. That itself could have damaged the item.

If you are forced to refund against your will, it's up to you what you do next. Usually it's best to not worry about it and move on, but if youy can't then legal action agaisnt the buyer is all you can do.

Thanks for replies sent this response
I'm very sorry to hear there was a problem with the discs I have no idea how this has happened as I double check all my items before sending and they were in perfect condition and played fine. I am quite concerned how they have become damaged. Was all the packaging intact when they arrived as I will look at getting a refund from royal mail if that is the case. If however you wish to return the disc's to me I will refund you the amount you paid. Please let me know if you are wishing to return the discs and I will send the return address.

I'm really upset i'm new to selling on line I think this has put my off for good. I can't understand why they tried to get the discs repaired without emailing me first. I'm very honest when listing the condition of my items and mention any marks ect if they have but these were almost new and it was The Official DSA Complete Theory Test Kit 2008/09 Edition which is a popular item that I could have resold. I'll refund but I feel I will get useless item back which is fustrating as I know I was in excellent condition as listed.

Remember you can leave appropriate feedback on Amazon still. It won't help you but will act as a warning to other sellers. I'm afraid I never leave feedback on Amazon as a seller unless I feel someone is at it.

Its possible that the buyer already had the item in question, that was badly damaged, and chose to buy another one and 'swap' them over.
This may not be the case but it is a possible scenario.
However as others have said, you have little choice but to refund.

I have never yet checked the feedback for a buyer, in fact I have no idea how to even do it?

You will soon find it when you get a buyer you don't think is quite right.

As for leaving feedback for a buyer you need to phrase it carefully so as not to come across as a complete nut. Be factual and honest but err on the conservative side. You just want to draw other sellers that the buyer might notbe quite honest as subtly as possible. Wait until it comes back before deciding.

Not much point when you can't block buyers is it? :)
