firstly I'd like to say hello to all,
now the fun bit:- what is the most anyone has been charged for being overdrawn for one day? i only ask this question as i seem to have been charged a total of £63 for being 59p overdrawn for one day ,
that to me seems a bit(under estimation) on the steep side.
i have contacted my bank and all i seem to get is the two fingered way of saying tough, your up the Creek without a paddle, now give us your hard earned cash!
does anybody know how, if any way i can make them see sense and now get charged this amount?
i have already pleaded with the bank and the answer is always the same. from the words of the Tom Cruse character in Jerry McGuire:- show me the money.
at least !!!!!! Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people!!!!!!

Hi there, I was charged £35 per transaction over my overdraft limit plus a £28 admin fee for being in an unauthorised overdraft. That all comes to £63 so there's your answer, that's what they've done. Don't let them do this to you! Argue, argue, argue against this.
It's a disgraceful way to treat people. I got my charges refunded but because I was a victim of fraud and that's why I was overdrawn...but listen, once I argued my way out of the exact same charges that you've had thrown at you.

If they decline the request due to previous charges etc, highlight the fact (firmly, but politely) that it is excessive for the amount of overdraft involved and appeal to their better nature. While they are not obliged to reimburse it's much easier to say "no" over the phone that it is face to face.
Beyond that, have a look around these pages on this site.at least !!!!!! Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people!!!!!!0 -
Do you have an agreed overdraft limit?
If you have, have you exceeded it?
If you have not, get one and that way you will not incur such a fee in future.
I have bank will Halifax for years and never has a problem. They have always been polite and professional when I have dealt with them.Lic.0 -
many thanks for all your replies. i am going into the bank on Friday afternoon to try the over the counter approach, failing that, i will switch my account to the reward current account, and take it from there.
this all started due to Barclay's partner finance taking out a payment not on the date i specified when i set up a payment. they seem to think that 'the start of the month' means any time form the 6th to the 14th?
obviously in normal peoples language, the term 'start of the month' means any time they choose!0 -
Have you considered changing to their reward current account? That would have charged you a fiver for the same offence.[/QUOTE]
well, i have just swapped my account over the phone to the reward current account, and due to me paying in more than £1000 per month, i will receive from Halifax, £5 for doing so! so there does seem to be a silver lining on my dark cloud:T0
