Unsure about benefits

I am being made redundant as of August the 21st. I am 24 and have worked since leaving school at 16. I am contemplating going to university on the 28th of September, I have a place just not sure if I will take it. Is it possible for me to claim any benefits for the period inbetween if I cant find a job for the month? Ive never been out of job before so know absolutely nothing about it and dont think I am going to be able to find any work for that month!

As you've paid NICs you'll be able to claim JSA for the weeks before you start university as long as you're actively seeking work.

If you want to claim help with housing costs then that will be means tesated and depend on whether you live with anyone or have any savings.
