Hello All
I Am Trying To Arrange For Someone To Film Our Wedding Using Our Video Camera.
I Have Played About Transferring A Sample Video From The Video Camera Directly To A Dvd Recorder & Also From The Video Camera To The Computer.
The Transfer To The Dvd Recorder Is Excellent Quality But When I Transfer From Vid Cam To Comp The Quality Disappears.
What I Am Trying To Do Is To......
Transfer From My Vid Cam To A Dvd After Editing It Eg With Menu Screens Etc.
What Is The Easiest Way To Transfer From My Vid Cam To A Dvd Without Losing The Quality But Where I Can Still Edit With Menu Items Etc,
Any Suggested Programs Would Be Much Appreciated
Many Thanks
Ian

The quality of the video capture will depend on the bit settings and file type you choose. Whilst i wouldn't recommend it, windows moviemaker help isn't a bad place to start for some background info, if you haven't already got video editing software on your pc.
Some reviews and recommendations in respect of a variety of software here,

are you using the firewire port when connecting to the PC, or the analogue phono connections?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

I agree with mikemoate, I've used movie maker 2 with chn and they can use it! Filesize is small and quality not excellent. i use Pinnacle Studio (see mikemoate's link) - it's very easy, and I've made some fab dvd's, the quality has been tops! I downloaded the dig vid using a firewire port, in full quality, but that's because my PC could handle it.
Do you have a firewire connector, like albertross asks? If not, you can fit one easily for about £15 (using a PCI slot).

bobbytwo, it'll be worth u trying to burn a test copy from your computer to dvd again.
the video on the computer doesnt move as smoothly but when you burn it back onto the DVD, it'l get its quality back.
BUT, the quality on the DVD also varies by the amount of video that you want burnt onto the dvd. if you want to burn 3 hours, the compression has to be high, therefore loosing quality.
ideally you want to burn 1 and half hours to two hours on a dvd, no more. Any more will decrease and when you watch it, you'll see that the footage doesnt move smoothly, it'l lack some frames.
Hope this helps,
Skiddy0
