Reclaiming PPI, letter from Barclaycard

I had written to Barclaycard trying to reclaim PPI on my account, I only recently discovered that this was optional!
Barclaycard have written back saying they are investigating and have enclosed a questionaire. I am reluctant to fill this in as I have had the card for a number of years and cannot remember the details of the questions they are asking, also, I'm under the impression they should have this information.
Is it up to Barclaycard to prove the policy wasn't missold, or is it up to me to prove it was?
They are asking me to provide the telephone number I called to apply for the card, as this was nearly 10 years ago, I have no way of remembering this information!
Any help would be appreciated.

Hiya Dave
I was going to say that in regards of the questionaire they should still hold all the information from when this was sold to you, but as its gone past 6 years, they may however just need this information to help them with their investigation.
However, if they have no information I can't see how they can investigate against something they do not have of yours, so basically it may be a case of them offering you a goodwill offer of your word against theirs.
So just write to the best of your knowledge, and your reasons again.
Like myself I assumed that PPI was all part of the credit and its only since all this come about in the media I realised I was mis sold from a credit card ppi from 2001.
Have you tried requesting for a SAR (Subject access Request), where they must supply everything requested of what they do have of the request to you by 40 days, there is a payment of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this though.

The link posted is the template for the SAR.
And
Is your account still active?
I would tell them they should have the details of the telephone number on record/data.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
I am concerned that I put something in the questionairre that is incorrect and it gets classed as fraud, I can barely remember last week never mind 10 years ago!!!
The account is still active!
Thanks again

Your welcome Dave, and I'm sure it will be fine.;) And your being honest.
They should still hold details to everything on your account then, so an SAR may be a good idea.
How long have they given you to complete the questionaire? The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
