Premium lowering ploy by insurance companies

Options
Not for the first time has this happened to me. When my house insurance came up for renewal, I had already bought cover with NU via Topcashback. My insurer at that time (AIG) didn't contact me regarding my renewal until about 2 weeks priorto the end of the policy, and when they did, the premium was far in excess of what I had paid NU. (And I had the cashback). AIG then cane up with "with, maybe we can reduce your premium" which was too late anyaway. This happened again today when I requested a car insurance quote. I got the quote by email with a message saying "please ring xxxxxxxxxxxxx to see if we can reduce your premium. Why the hell can't they offer the reduced premium in the first place. I know, it's called "marketing":mad:!!!!
