Letter from M&S

I wrote to M&S to explain that because of a change in my family circumstances I have had to emigrate to Aus and at present have no income so I am unable to continue to pay off my credit card. I have received a letter back from them which is very polite but basically says as I am making no payment to the account they will follow their normal collection strategy. One may be a notice of default and further action will be taken for the recovery of the debt and the account could be passed to a collections agency which may involve county court action.
What should I do next, I can't pay it and it is £11,000 I could make a very small payment but will lose out massively with the exchange rate and also transferring money.
I know they can't take me to court or issue a CCJ as I am not resident in the UK. I do ant to pay off the debt but just can't at the minute as I have no income and do not get benefits over here.:confused::confused:
