Halifax RS and standing orders

my RS has just matured having used faster payments all year. So there is no need to use standing orders.

Standing orders can go by faster payments, if the sending bank allows it.

I think 'oldfella' is saying he's made manual deposits by FP each month, rather than making them by (BACS or FP) standing order.

I've sent ad hoc payments in from 3 different accounts over the course of the year. I also made two deposits in the first month (totalling £500), none of which resulted in me forfeiting the RS rate.
  • I'm so green oldfella.
We've been foxed by Halifax ( isle of man ) and lost £1500 + for not doing standing orders.
    Why insist on Standing Orders.
Do you think they have a way of making more money by recieving them ?
Well, they make thousands by closing peeps accounts when they DON'T use them.

I Standing Order is simply a repeated BACS payment. As it is a BACS payment the receiving bank won't know the difference.

I have had 75 regular savers over the past few years and paid them all "manually" by BACS or FP and they are all maturing nicely.

Ditto .... but not 75!!! More like 20 so I have a long way to go to catch you up. However, like you, I have done them all manually by BACS with no problems.
