8 seater car advice please?
Does anyone know about 8 seaters? We need one to fit all our family in, it won't do much annual mileage but needs to be capable of doing long distances all loaded up. I really like the look of the Caravelle, but that seems out of our price range - we want to spend as little as possible and still get a reliable vehicle that doesn't eat diesel.
We have ruled out the Nissan serena and the toyota estima plus a lot of the very expensive ones but have runout of steam now. Thy're very difficult to get to know about and even harder to look at if you live in a rural backwater like we do.
I got brilliant advice last year when posting about buying another car and hope someone here might be able to come up trumps!
(When I say as cheap as possible i think it's reasonable to say we won't go over £6,000.)
Thanks, Ness.

I guess the OP is particularly interested in 8 seaters as they don't have a licence that covers 9 or more seaters, else they could look at mini-buses (e.g. transit)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Hi Ness
Can I suggest you post the same question on http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=119
There are some very knowledgable individuals there, more especially on more obscure queries like this.0 -
you could just get a minibus and take the extra seats out ,(you would have to send the log book off to dvla) with all private vehicles over 9 seats now needing a certificate of initial fitness i can see this happening a lot more.I guess the OP is particularly interested in 8 seaters as they don't have a licence that covers 9 or more seaters, else they could look at mini-buses (e.g. transit)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Toyota Hiace Regius. Some of these are 8 seaters.
Also Nissan Elgrand, again many of them 8 seaters.
If you don't all mind wearing ear defenders you could get a Transit Tourneo.
If you could manage with a 7 seater don't rule out Kia Sedona and Hyundai Trajet.0 -
A 9 seater minibus is ok on any car licence. (driver plus 8).0

Citroen C8/Fiat Ulysse/Peugeot 807. You can get those with 8 seats.0

Hi, we have been very happy with our Mazda Bongo. They are a Japanese import and if bought direct from the importer a very reasonably priced. We have four children including twins in car seats and have found it very spacious.0

Citroen C8 is availible with 8 seats - they replace the two rear full size with a bench style seat. Not sure how common they are on the used market though0
