tesco complaint

i did the usual shopping in my local tesco extra and whilst paying i asked for £20 cash back.
i got home and realised that i hadnt been given it so i checked my receipt and it was entered on it as if i had received it.
i immediately rang them up which took an hour to get through only to be told that they could do nothing about it til the next day when they cash the till up.fair enough but having worked for a different retail grocery shop i did a till check straight away if somebody claimed this so as i could give them their money back.
i was told that someone would phone me back the following day .this never happened so i left it until late afternoon the next day and phoned them again(another half hour to get through!).they still didnt know and were very impolite and couldnt care less.
it eventually took 3 days to get my cash back with no apology .i understand that i should have remembered to get it from the cashier but 3 days i feel is not right.20 pounds to me was money for electricity and it was important.should i complain?

What do you want to achieve from lodging a complaint? Compensation? An apology? Is it really worth it? The cashier made a mistake and so did you. Learn a lesson from this episode and move on. The cashier made a mistake and so did you.

Ive made the same mistake on numerous occasions and the cashier has had to remind me about my cashback so am thinking it may be safer to actually go to the cashpoint in future where you are only concentrating on getting the cash and not packing groceries, paying, handing over cards etc etc. Its an easy mistake to make but was your mistake so I dont think you will have much to gain by complaining.

As it was a basic mistake I don't think there is much you can really moan at here, as you were at fault too along with the cashier for forgetting about the cash back.

However, you could write a letter of complaint/comment regarding the service you received and the trouble of getting through to the CSD. Tesco will as a result will give you a written an appology and a voucher to be spent in store as an appology.

No. You should move on and save your energy for more important issues.

I wouldn't count on it. I wrote and complained about something (it was so important I have completely forgotten what it was about LOL) and they wrote and apologised but failed to enclose my vouchers  I was tempted to write and complain :D

yeah maybe i shouldnt bother.its the fact that it took 3 days for it to be checked that i was cheesed off about and the not being able to get through alongside their attitude!

Well, I can tell you it is Tesco's MO to send a voucher out with all appologys. It is something the CSD manager is told to do in the training ;)

I don't know where you learnt this HF, as an ex services manager for Tesco (I still work for Tesco, just no longer in customer services) this has never been within the training. We are trained to assess every situation and decide if they require any goodwill.
