  • Hi,

I'm in the same situation, as I received some extra shares when HBoS was taken over, then there was the rights issue, I was waiting until I received my new certificates, which I received this week, before contacting the registrars to consolidate them all into one certificate.

I did this some years ago with Scottish Power shares and Thus shares, and there was no charge.

I wonder why you want do this - assuming that they are all registered correctly to you at the same address with the same shareholder's reference? :undecided

Y, you don't need to. When the time comes to sell, it won't matter if you have one certificate or twenty, the broker's commission will be the same.

If they are in different batches, i.e different certificate numbers, wont i have to pay to sell each batch, then it will cost me a lot more to sell, or can i sell several batches for one cost... (hope this makes sense)???

You could be right, if they charge on a per trade basis.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

They will have different certificate numbers, but as long as the Shareholder's Reference is the same, you can sell as many of the shares as you want as a single deal.

You send enough certificates to cover the number of shares you want to sell. A balance certificate for any remaining shares will be sent back to you.

For example, if you have a holding of 300 shares with one certificate for 100 shares and another for 200 shares, and you want to sell 250 of them, you send both certificates when requested and a certificate for the balance of 50 shares will be returned to you.
