I have a 4yr old niece whom I haven't seen for over a year now due to the family moving abroad...because I haven't seen her for ages, I'm not so clued up about what kind of toys a 4yr old girl would prefer? I recentely sent her a My Little Pony gift set... dont really know what kind of stuff a 4yr old would play with these days??? I also bought a Barbie doll, lying in my kitchen cupboard...not too sure if she's maybe a little too young for that still, maybe i shall keep it for a while until she's a little older? Any suggestions?
** i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay **

My daughter is three and a half, and loves any activity books esp if they have stickers, also loves any arty/crafty things. All manner of girly things, eg dressing up, bags, shoes, pretend make up ( and real when she gets her hands on it:eek: ).
As a true telly addict, she loves videos/dvd's, any even ones that are generally more boyish like batman, spiderman. As her Mum I prefer when people buy her active presents, spacehopper, etc etc. Or educational, hence activity books.
Disney is always a winner although expensive.
In summary I think at four you cant really go wrong, and in fact at this age they are developing their imaginations at an incredible rate, ( my daughter is currently looking for some sticky tape so she can stick a freshly laundered tea towel to her 10mth old brother, apparently he is hiding from the crocodile??;) )
Time is more important than toys at this age, if you can find something that her Mum/Dad will do with her than it wont matter what logo or brand it is....the fact that it came in a parcel will increase its "value" too:D

our 4 & 3 yr old nieces love my little pony type things, also anything for pretend play - teasets ,kitchen stuff ,dress up etc
barbie is fine for her age IMO but her mum may have an aversion to it lol as its not a great "role model" not as bad as those Bratz though !!! they are awful !!!0 -

Oh i just believe every girl should have a couple of barbies, I still have 2 of mine from when i was young!! Although poor Barbie might not live very long, i suspect she'll be in for a haircut of some sort shortly after arrival! my niece did like the My little pony, but from what I've heard at the time of opening her gifts, she was more interested in the sweets I sent with it...oh well...** i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay **0 -
i wish i still had my barbies ,id have made a fortune on ebay lmao
my mum gave them away !!! i had loads of them
i remember it was a treat to go into town of a saturday morning and buy a barbie outfit lol from a "proper" old fashioned toy shop : )0 -
My DD is 4 and everything has to be Barbie or Polly Pocket at the moment. Disney Princess and dressing up clothes are up at the top too. Asda do a box of dressing up shoes for around £9. I don't know if that's more than what you want to spend though?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
