Generally Skype is probably more secure as it is end to end encrypted (provided you trust Skype themselves).

Here's a report on Skype security (bias note: this was Skype commissioned):

On the Three network it works slightly differently though I think. At least on some of their phones you're making a normal 3G call to Three, then they convert it to Skype at their base and send it to the destination. The Skype isn't done on the phone as such. So in that case you have to trust Three. However when the call goes out over the internet to the destination it has normal Skype protection for that part of the journey.
  • I'm now curious, what is the nature of the conversation you think will be spied upon ??

Yes, calls can be intercepted but so can almost all forms of communication.

You could always use encryption then a bit of steganography, it will slow down the communication but give you leace of mind.

Seriously, unless it's vital the call is private, just use skype and enjoy the free call.

the "3" skype client is a re-branded third party program http://www.iskoot.com/products/skype (Not an original skype client) It does jump on the skype network and is fixed to the "3" networks.

skype does have a mobile client:

Only asking to know if it is at least as safe as voda, orange or t-mobile for example as if i was making calls concerning my bank account or other financial details.I know even the mobile networks can be hacked but the equipment would be very expensive for the hackers and requires a lot of paperwork to gain the authority and licences.
