I would assume that the account needs to be in your legal name. You don't have to change your legal name, but if you do then you'd need to tell the bank.0

Is there a specific reason why you ask the question?0 -
It depends. In Scotland there is no deed pole and you can legally call yourself whatever you like as long as it isn't for cheating people out of anything.0

I am usually known by my middle name and my mother opened my first savings account with it and not my proper first name...later on it caused all types of hassle best to make sure all details are correct0

If you change your name through the General Registrar of Scotland in Edinburgh you get a letter to confirm the name change and can buy a fresh certificate in your new name. This should be enough legal proof if you're asked to id yourself at a later date." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I've got bank accounts in 2 names - my main current account is one name and another account I have is in another name simply because it could potentially cause a huge family rift if my main current account was in another name IYSWIM. The bank are well aware of this and arent particularly bothered about it - but then again my passport is in the same name.
Potentially it might be ok as if even if you remarry you could theoretically keep the same name - for example if you never changed your name originally.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
