punto starter motor
Options
Hi There
Ive just received a recon starter for my MK1 punto 16v 1.2 sporting, ive taken the old one off and checked with new one, there are 9 teeth on old one and only 8 on the new one. Ive contacted the place i got it from and he says that
"depending on the original make of starter fitted varies the amount of teeth on the bendix...they all interchange on 1.2 models so no problem....always worth checking though!"
Is this correct, will it still work, or do i need to match the 9 teeth one im taking off?
Thanks
Matt

you will need the new starter motor to have the same teeth as the old one, if you put the starter with 9 teeth on you will find it will make a strange noise when starting thewn eventually it will wear down the teeth on the flywheel and this will need replacing.
fit the right starter, or get your original one reconditioned....work permit granted!0
