I have acquired mobile BB and because of the slowness of it I need to compose emails before being online in order to send. I have a Yahoo (non-paid) webmail account so I can't use it offline. I could download Thunderbird, but I could only access the Yahoo account through it unless I download YPops first. I've read up that this creates "security issues"
apparently. Or would a better option be to get Gmail, that I think can be used offline on its own and can import Yahoo (free account) and Aol webmail also?
Any advice appreciated.

I tried Ypops with Outlook Express and Yahoo, it receives OK but gives errors on trying to send. Google Mail does everything - use it in POP mode with Outlook/Tbird, or use it as Webmail. Just quite a few settings to get to know is the only issue.0

Sending is the main priority so I think my choice maybe Gmail. But why is there is a security problem with Ypops?0 -
Probably the way it connects to the server.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

With a Yahoo account, if you selected UK & Ireland, when signing up, then under yahoo -> mail options, you should see forwarding & pop.
If you enable pop forwarding, you will be able to download and send emails from thunderbird, i.e. can read and compose offline, then go online to send a receive NEW emails. No need for ypop.
If when signing up for your Yahoo mail account, you left the default Yahoo.com (USA) option, pop forwarding is not available.
It is easy to determine which region you are signed up to by going to -> mail options and one of the menus will be vacation forwarding (USA) or holiday forwarding (UK & Ireland).
Also can select SSL for sending and receiving mail from within Thunderbird.

Thanks, a very concise and easy to understand solution.....and it worked .
I think I've been completely misled by forums and articles on the net saying you had to have the paid for version of Yahoo mail to use with Thunderbird mail, which I see now is patently false.0
