Do you have legal protection on your insurance OP? If so then let the solicitors deal with it thats what you pay it for.

Forgot to add... I know you said loads of people in the pub saw it happen... do you actually have contact details of any independent witnesses? I wouldn't imagine so if these people were in the pub and you had to drive off after the bus unless you went back to ask them.

Quentin - I'm using a claims handler for that exact reason. One question - what happens if the coach company just refuses to pay - which appears to be the case at the moment? .

    It's immaterial!

Your claim handler will be dealing with the insurer and the coach company's refusal to pay won't come into it!

But bear in mind that if the repairs will cost thousands, you may end up with the repairs being considered uneconomical, and the car declared a write off, with a cash settlement made to you based on its current value.
  • I have a similar incident whereby a bus company and their insurers are now saying that they will not admit liability nor pay for the repair to my vehicle. I was also put in touch with accident exchage who to be brutaly honest are a total waste of time. 13 weeks on and my car is still sitting in the body shop and I have just been told that the only way to have this repaired will be to go through my own insurance company. They have got a solicitor involved which they are paying for but they are the ones who have just told me the news.

Make a claim through your own insurer. (That's what you have paid for!). Then you will get your car back on the road quickly.

Then pursue the third party to refund your excess and other uninsured losses. If you are successful, inform your insurer who should accept your claim was not your fault, get reimbursed from the third party and restore your NCB.
  • Are you in a hire car from Accident Exchange? If so, they specialise in prestige vehicle hire. Be aware of any escalating hire costs whilst liability remains in dispute with QBE.
