ESA Medical!

Ive been claiming ESA Since for a while,(Claimed in Jan, Got awarded ESA in Feb/March, but had it backdated from Nov) And ive just had my letter saying to book my appointment for my medical. Which is now booked for 30th June!

Ive read a lot of posts on here about the medical and how hard it is to pass it. If i dont i will obv appeal but if worse comes to worse, is there any other benefits i may be entitled to?

I Currently get High Rate Mobility DLA plus Middle rate care DLA.
Also work part time (Currently under the permitted work rules on ESA - i can only manage about 13 hours a week - and thats still hard)
Ive just been made redundant (Official date is 27th June) and ive just got another job (Training starts 2nd July) so i am very lucky to be able to go from one job to another - still 14 hours a week ish and 4 very small shifts, as i cant manage to work a lot each day and like to have a few days off inbetween so not working 4 straight days.

I really hope i can still get ESA, but havent got my hopes up!

I don't know the answer to your question but I just wanted to say congratulations to you. I think it's fantastic that you want to work when so many others in your position give up and then to get a job within days of being made redundant is absolutely fantastic.

All the very best with your new job and your ESA application.

I second what oldernotwiser has to say.

What an inspiration you are to other's who might be of the mind that it's not possible to have a disibility & work at the same time. :T
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Few quick thoughts re other benefits - do you get council tax benefit? Housing benefit if renting?
If your health problems are due to an injury at work or to certain work related diseases, then you could claim for industrial injuries disablement benefit in addition to any other benefits.

Best of luck with the medical.

I live at home with my mum, she works almost full time so cant claim carers allowence, she does get working tax credits (about £10 a week ish) and claims 25% off her council tax with the 2nd adult rebate as i dont earn much.

Id love to be able to work full time but thats just not possible yet, finished uni a year ago but just waiting till i can manage more now. Have arthritis in my knees, feet, hands etc and it hurts/aches a lot so cant manage too much in each day.
Ive only got DLA till Jan, got it awarded for 1 year as it has been ok while i was at uni but flared up again about a year ago.

Just want to add what the other posters have said. Well done on working and I hope your claim for ESA is successful. Arthritis is a b*gger of a condition. x

I had my ESA Medical today, and i dont think it went well but dont know... i have 3-4 weeks to wait now while they make a decision.
I feel that they will think im 'too well' to claim ESA as most the people on ESA are "more disabled"!!!

I was looking at my options, other than appealing, which will take a few more weeks (if i fail anyway) my only other option is to work more hours - but dont think i can as im struggling doing what im doing now.
if i did 16 hrs a week, would i then be entitled to claim Working Tax Credits (Not sure how much that is tho - I currently live at home with my mum who works 30+ Hours and gets a little working tax credits too - so not sure how that will effect me if i do become in a position to do more hours)

On another note, Ive got my first physio tomorrow after waiting for ages, also been chasing up trying to see my doctor at the hospital, was due to have an appointment in June but nothing came, so rang up and got informed my doctor had left and now have to make an appointment with someone else!
