BT Cancellation fee after 5+ years.

To save a measly pound a month i thought i'd switch my line rental from bt to sky. For over 5 years i'm been paying sky for my calls and bt for my line rental. As i'd been with bt for years i knew there couldn't be any cancellation fee, WRONG!!!
Just had my final bill from BT and they have charged me £82 cancellation fee! Apparently i'm on 12 month rolling contract (with free evening & weekend calls, which i shouldn't have because sky deal with my calls) and i'd agreed to renew over the phone a couple of months ago. This is news to me, i don't even remember the phone call, and apparently they wrote to me telling me my contract had been renewed, but i can't remember seeing it (i get so much junk).
I was livid, i phoned bt, but they didn't want to know, just told me i'd broken the contract and there was nothing they could do.
Of course, if i'd known that there was a fee i would never have done it.
Is there anyway i can get out of this or even get it reduced?

Being on a 12 month contract is a condition of receiving free evening calls from BT. There must have been some communication between you and BT in the last 5 years in order for you have been moved off the free weekend call contract onto the free evening and weekend calls contract. They may not have highlighted the contractual change to you.0

Hi Richardc316
I can have a look at this for you. I will need to know your BT account details and you can pm these to me.
Thanks Helen
