How do I find out how far I'm away from my local exchange for Broadband/speed purposes?
The broadband checker is just to tell you the availability of the service.
Any test/website which give the distance?
Many thanks in advance

Mmm try the providers website or http://www.datadsl.co.uk/adsl_checker_frame.php
That site only gives little info though or try http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php
That sites info isnt always upto date though.0 -
Go here http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php and input your telephone number AND your postcode. When you get the result click on BT ADSL. You should then be told your approximate distance from the exchange.
HTHThis site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Many thanks.
I'm about 1.27 km from the exchange.
I read this from bethere website and wanted to know which speed i might expect if I swich in the future:
"The actual bandwidth that you will receive is based on three factors: the length of the wire that connects your premises with the BT exchange, the quality of the copper, and signal interference from other users or devices. If the quality of the copper is perfect, and there is no line noise, you will receive 24 megs up to a kilometre from the exchange. If your line is two kilometres long then you can expect to receive up to 15 megs. Your bandwidth will decrease further as line length increases, and we do not offer our service if you are further than 5.5 kilometres from the exchange. While bandwidths are not guaranteed, we do offer the highest bandwidth available using ADSL2+ to your premises" !!!
