Mis-sold Sky broadband (kinda)

I have Sky broadband and have had for a couple of years. We can't get it free here so we have to pay. I was looking to change a year ago and Sky offered me it at £5.00 a mth for a year, which i took. Just prior to the offer ending i rang up to query my bill and was offered Sky talk which seemed a decent deal and was told if i sign up for that plan i could stay on the £5.00 a mth deal as long as i stayed a sky customer as a loyalty bonus. So i agreed to having Sky talk and now they've started charging me £17.99 a mth! I've contacted Sky by phone and now email and they will offer me broadband for £10.00 a mth but will not acknowledge the fact that i was assured i would stay on £5.00 per mth for the time i stay a Sky customer. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

its going to be hard to prove it

just ring and go through and say you want to cancel and move to virgin

in my experience sky will practically lick the mud off your shoes to keep you

for us they even rang up 2 months after asking how vm was and if twe thought it was better then tried to offer us cheap discounted deals!

you could get them to honour the promise by doing this or you coukd actually just ring up virgin and get that as in my opinion the broadband is superior and the tv is a good match, the basic package has less channels than skys equivalent but you get so much on demand stuff!

the + service is even better than sky in all content (apart from channels but it doesnt matter unless you like those shopping channels and crap like that)
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

I would try sky again and see if you get to speak to someone else.

We (i make my flatmate do it even though its in my name as she has the gift of the gab!!) rang last night to downgrade our tv package as we are not using the movies to find when chatting to them we never got our 3 months free broadband when we joined (feb).

Due to the delights of direct debit i had never noticed this (i know i should have checked) but they put us straight through to the internet dept and they credited us the £30 straight away to our next bill. No fuss no probs. Will definately be making sure it is there next month tho!

    Hi Malachysdad,

Sales calls like this are often recorded and as such you may be able to request a copy of the call under DPA 1998 though you may have to pay up to £10 for this. Write to Sky by recorded delivery and ask for the call to be listened to by a manager and confirm what was agreed in writing to you within 14 days first though before requesting a copy of the call - hopefully that will be enough to get this sorted out.
