Maybe they have some sort of fair-usage policy, like internet providers do. Though I cant see anything on their website.

Why would they have such thing. The more calls they place the more money they make. Their is clearly a capacity problem.;)

Their appears to be a capacity/congestion problem when you call it from your exchange.

Try using one of CheapestCalls sister companies numbers

    Phonecheap 0844 200 9898
    Discountdial 0844 200 9595

both only half a pence a minute to call Poland.

    Hi

I have tried both of those tel numbers but I get the same message.

    DonnyDave,

If the capacity limit has been reached then I am baffled as to why this recorded message is being played everytime I try the telephone number from my landline at home. I have tried ringing morning, afternoon and evening.

I have tried only twice from my work's landline and it worked both times so I can't help thinking that it's only coincidence or good luck.

I don't know what to do. I can't complain to BT because as you rightly say it isn't really a network message.

I'd open a www.18185.co.uk account I was you - it may mean paying double (1p/minute) for your calls to Poland but your connection charge will be lower (5p instead of 8p) and you won't pay for calls which don't get through.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Another alternative if you have inclusive 01/02/03 geographical minutes is to open an account with
www.localphone.com they charge 1.1p a minute but no connection charge. They will provide you with a geographical access number.

It sounds as if your 0844 provider has problems not BT, I don't know of a standard network annoucement that states 'bandwidth problems' that sound like the 0844 service provider not BT.

My employer actually bars 0844 2 numbers, not sure why, they just do.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

I had a fair few problems with localphone including very poor call quality to the point of ridiculousness -but still got charged for the calls. I personally would avoid them.

I get this "capacity problem" a lot of times.
What happens is that the company behind the service monitors your usage and if you use the service too much you get blocked. This block lasts up to a week or so.If you don't use the service for a while the block is removed.
    Hope this helps.
Simple solution is use another 0844 numbers as there seems to be a lot of these about.
