Colour Printing Problem

I have a HP Deskjet990CXI Professional printer, in the past it has printed perfectly. However, it has recently printed with a very strong red/pink.
This happens with both photos and scanned images, in fact when scanning text the black comes out a funny brown colour.
I have tried changing the cartridges black and colour and printed the test pages of HP with perfect results.
I am us ing XPPro and wondered if anyone could suggest a way to rectify the problem as the printer is useless in it's present condition.

Sounds like the yellow/cyan cartridges are running out. Try the cleaning process, if that doesn't work swap for a new set of cartridges.0
