Hi
My son has a Dell laptop - he only ever uses it when attached to the mains - was brand new in October and now he can't use it because the battery won't work - basically it isn't working even though it's connected to the mains.
Same thing happened to me - my laptop is a Dell but second hand - I bought a new battery as the existing one wasn't holding the charge and already - after about 6 months it keeps coming up saying battery critical - I can only use it connected to the electric. My son can't use his full stop.
I guess I've got to buy new batteries again, but I thought the whole idea of using while connected to the electric was so that it doesn't wear the battery out?
Any ideas pls?
Thanks

If your going to only use the laptop on the mains then you should really remove the battery because it can ruin them with the heat of the laptop.
You say your son can't use his full stop, has it been dropped and the mains connection is dammaged? I would try removing all power to the notebook (both mains and battery)0 -
Most manufacturers recommend doing a deep discharge/charge cycle once per month to keep the battery in good condition, I dare say it's in your owner's manual.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
