working 16 hours and overtime

going back to work,contracted 16 hours but if asked to do overtime would i lose tax credit money?

I assume that you have children or a disability or your partner works over 30 hours per week. IF not, you need to work 30+ hours per week.
You can earn up to £25,000 more this year (as a household, not individually) without it reducing your award or causing an overpament. If your income is increasing you should notify TCO.
This figure will be used when calculating your award from 6th April 2010 when the new year begins.0 -
thanks sorry to sound thick but what do you mean by 25,000 more ? partner earns 24,000 3 kids and my income will be around 5,000 so will nthe amount i get now change0

subsoniccoyote is referring to the £25000 income disregard regarding current year income.
In your case any extra money earned from overtime less than £25000 will only count against next years award - as PY income will be lower than CY0
