Hello
Help on this will be so apprecaited.
I bought a new PC recently which came pre-loaded with Vista on it. It's been working really well.
It was set to have the automatic vista updates. Only after having done the last one, it hasn't worked since!
When i start up it recommends that i use the repair function (if i try and load windows normally it doesn't do anything).
At the end of using this function, I then get the message:
'Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically'
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairV2
Problem Signature 01: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 02: 6.0.6001.18000.6.0.6001.18000

as i haven't had it long, i haven't got any back up. Also it came pre-loaded with Vista so i can't wipe it and start again as i don't have the disks.
Given that it took me a whole day to set up the system, and i had spent another day putting all my cds on it. (I had planned to order an external harddrive next week after i got paid. I know I should probably have brought it at the same time) Is there anything that can be done and save anything?
the options i have are:
system restore
windows complete restore
window memory diagnostice tool
command prompt
thank you so much

System Restore is your best hope.0

Having spent 3 days in this loop, i have it fixed:j
i pressed F8 when it was starting up and windows started normally - quite bizarre. I re-booted to see if it would work again. It did go back into the loop - however i had a new option to run a fix and this has worked.
I've just ordered an external harddrive and i shall be keeping the PC on until it arrives :-)0 -
External hard drive's......
Bit of a "latest toy", but I think every home should have one
