Migrating to Linux

honest it does seem quite easy, but then again I am quite up on OS.

Hi guys,

Ubuntu gets my vote, my mum uses it now! She picked it up straight away.

Linux must be the moneysaving operating system.

Windows or Linux and £50 in your pocket!

Macs are very expensive for what they are IMO, very sexy looking though.

As for help on linux, theses are a couple of great sites off the top of my head:

You can now "get the stability of Windows with the value-of-money of Apple hardware."

Remember Linux isn't a replacement to Windows, it's an alternative. It's a very different experience, more than just a cosmetic change.

Hello guys.


Thanks a lot for the info here. Im going to get a live linux CD first (Knoppix) and give it a go. Hopefully I could be able to partition my drive so I can put another linux OS. Im going to check also Mephis, Mandriva, and Fedora Core. See what sort of linux would suit my needs.

Though getting a MAC is a nice idea Quite expensive though (have to money save)
