Please can anyone advise as to the merits of ICI Piolite for exterior masonry on a stone cottage. The render has been repaired . I have also been advised that a product called Monolastic smooth would be suitable.
The cottage issituated about 1000 ft up a hill set in a pine forrest so we get quite a lot of algae on the exterior walls.

Pliolite is a fantastic paint. It's a solvent base, but dries cure in 20 minutes making it the only masonry capable of being rain resistant in such a short time. Because of it's base, it's going to be far more durable and last long. However, I'll be honest, I would go for ICI.
Pliolite is the name all brands use. The cheapest pliolite I've come across is Macpherson Trade Pliolite, but Johnstone's Trade and Dulux do one also. I think the last time I used pliolite (i.e. last year) I bought it for about £14 a 5Lt tin from a place called Painters Choice. I use that for my parent's house but I use normal masonry for my own home.0
