Right, GAP job search link sorted:

Log in to GAP as usual, then copy this link, paste it into your address bar, and change the "hxxp" to "http", then change the cities, making sure that the commas are still there.

For the foreigners amongst us, simply change England to Wales/Scotland/wherever, and then change the cities/towns as described above.

    hxxp://www.xec.gapbuster.com/WebSelect3/SearchAssignment.aspx?q=search&flag=true&f1=England&f2=&f3=Newcastle,Liverpool,Sheffield,London&c=&a=&start=&end=&premiumOnly=false&pageSize=25&pageIndex=0

Let me know if this works (it does for me!)

    :j:j:j

It`s taken me 2hrs .................but done it!!! Thanks.

If it helps, and this could be what I should have done anyway, I went as if to reply to this OP,I took out Monkey boys areas and replaced with mine. Then I copied and pasted once I`d logged onto gap.

Don`t reply to OP of course just come out of the link once you have copied.

I do trailer checks for them but the last one was beginning of April. Was a possibility of Harry Potter but that fell through. It's a pity they don't get more work as the website is one of the best to use.

On another note does anyone know what SPi is and is it worthwhile getting involved in.

I've asked on here what SPi is, but never got an answer...! I still don't know, but would like to.

Good morning all, very new to this MSing. signed up with GAP yesterday and prinited some of the guide sheets off and will get thro them.
HOw did you guys start off, with just one company or quite a few. Also reading thro the stuff, you are expected to make some purchses, i assume that you dont end up out of pocket after paying to get there and buy things etc?
Anyone doing this MS work fulltime? Im just wondering if this can be fitted in.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't usually end up out of pocket unless I buy something else while I'm in there, or spend more than I should do! I usually only do shops where I would have bought something anyway so even if the reimbursement doesn't quite cover it, I don't feel like I've lost out.

I do MS around my full-time job, lunch breaks etc and on the weekends sometimes if I feel like it.

Jeeves - I started off in 2008 with gap and retail eyes and then slowly worked through the list on page 1 and I am now registered with over 20 but have only done jobs for around 15. I don't do this full time I just fit it in where I can, I only complete around 20 jobs per month , but there are people on here that complete many many more per month. Start off slow and build up experience. As for ending out of pocket , I sometimes do, I'll take on a job for a nice meal out in a fancy restaurant but if they are only reimbursing for the meal I do loss money on paper (and out of my own pocket), for printing the notes and my travel money but this balances out on a accounts with jobs where you can get a good fee and travel paid. So its all swings and round abouts.

Hi Jeeves, welcome to Mystery Shopping!
When I first started out, Gap was my first company but then I quickly joined more once I'd got the basics under my belt. Gap's quite a good company to begin with as it's a good way to get your head around what mystery shopping involves and as they're so picky - you get into the habit of doing things precisely by the book which is essential to mystery shopping.

As far as profit is concerned, you'll hear a lot on here that when people are working out their profit for tax purposes - a lot of people make a loss. Once you've taken into consideration petrol and travel costs, printing costs, and purchase costs don't be surprised if you've not actually made any money! Of course, some people do make money and if you're picky with the jobs you choose to do, then you can make it profitable by selecting fee only jobs, scheduling several assignments at the same time in the same area etc...

The benefits of MS'ing for some are a nice meal out, a new item of clothing, a new DVD or CD... where whilst you might not make any money - you will have gained in other things.

    Thanks for the prompt responses.
I noteiced there is no indication whatsoever of what the fee is for GAP jobs. If your doing say 1 job a week for GAP how much can you expect in a month?
