The big problem with GAP though is the long long long wait to be paid... but I can probably cope with that tbh..

Atm I believe it's being phased in on a client-by-client basis. At the moment you need to do whatever the final screen tells you to do - you either get the print out form for posting the receipt, or you get instructions to email them.

For example, supermarket jobs are post atm, but coffee shop jobs and credit card surveys are email.
I've just emailed all my receipts, regardless of client, and haven't had any problems with payments.

Ta mharzuk you are in Glasgow too aren't you. See instead of sequins just pin in some Valium tablets.

Yet I id another job while in that street. No clues again.Took me 10 minutes report took 10 minutes if that. Fee £10.
I've only been MSing since late last year, but I'm already becoming a lot more picky on the jobs that I will accept. Often, I will take a job once, but if I find it's too much of a palaver to answer all the questions (the "summarise everything" at the end of a long report is one reason!), then I won't pick up the job the next time I see it.

I too believe it is more reasonable to ask for refunds on a different day to the purchase, but most of the shops I have done so far have asked for it to be done on the same day. If you're asked why you don't like it any more (particularly if you've spent ages "agonising" over the decision), then it seems just wrong to return it without "trying it on with your favorite shoes" (example)

But well, if the client wants a report on a situation that is highly unlikely to happen in reality, more fool them!

Edit: I too have used the "found something better elsewhere" reason to return an item on the same day as purchasing it!

Is it just me being a pain but I am thinking of jacking in most MS'ing.

Right we cannot mention clients and link the fees to them so I am not breaking rules here as I am notioning the MS'ing company here or the client but for clarity I need to mention the fee.

I did 2 fashion shops yesterday. Fee £8 per shop. It is a purchase and return fee. Forgive me if I am being stupid but when an assistant has spent ages discussing an outfit with me and all the paffle ( my new word) of wrapping it etc paying etc etc. I dont think it is feasable (sp) to return it the same day as that looks odd.

So that is 2 trips into a major town centre ...parking etc. So that adds up at around 2 hours. Then another say 1 hour to return it. It is not RE but loads of questions. What did the assistant say. What did she say on approach. Why did she recommend that garment. What did she say about the material. What did she say about caring for the garment. Did she take care in wrapping the garment??? The only question they have missed is "What did the assistant say about what is our reason for living"

Cos by this time I was wondering why i am on the planet....and which planet I am on cos by now I don't flaming know. I feel as if I am on Mars.

I got to the end of the mega questionnaire and guess what.....aaaarrrrgggggghhhhh

The they want a summary of the whole !!!!!!! thing.

Well by now I am thing stick the garment where the monkey hides his nuts.

I am now going totally radio gaga.

I have worked out the time to do the shop, travel there and back, return the garment ( for any eejits out there it is a Scottish( well Glasgow word) which I will happily explain , do the report which took me 1 1/2 hours. another 1 hour to return it and a !!!!!!! summary of that. Almost 5 hours for £8.

Stop the bus I am off to India to sew sequins onto tea shirts. Probably earn more.

    Comments welcomed.

PS Those who know me will just go ...Ah there she goes our HP on another rant. Newbies will run for cover.

I will welcome comments while I await on men with white coats coming to cart me to the loonie bin.

I know what you mean, and I am now very selective about what I do. I only do Gapburgers if a couple of petrols are thrown in; RE, very rare, might do a couple of bookies if I feel like it; Might have a delivery Pizza if I fancy it - I love the quick service I get from my local one; even if it's a busy night, mine always arrives in 20 minutes - How could that be????? ;).. Otherwise I just do Aba petrol, nice and easy, and the better food ones, Posh Italians and the like, where the benefit of the free meal outweighs the report writing.

Oh for the return of the train tickety ones.. Then I'll be happy!

    Morning All!

Did my first RE job yesterday...what a load of palava for such a crappy fee! I've done work for a few of the MS companies now but have to say I found the report section of this job the worst. It just didn't seem to relate to the job!? And to think I was desperate to do a RE job to get out of 'probation', I don't think i'll bother next time! :rotfl:

Don't want to distract us from this interesting debate . . . but . . . quick question: am doing a pizza thing for g a p tomorrow, have done them before but this is a buffet one. No idea how to time it - starters, main course. Also, states I have to order a salad bowl, is this seperate to the buffet? Isn't there a buffet that includes this and won't I look like a nutcase if I insist on having a separate salad?

    Any help appreciated.

    xx

Bumping my own post - any advice, anyone?

  • People say on here that Gap bribe you with other jobs for taking on a job they need doing urgently. What I want to know is are these bribed jobs ones that are already on the job board or ones they "create" for you?

When I did the buffet scenario, I fully intended to have a seperate salad, but was told that it was included in the price. I therefore explained in the report that the server had insisted that salad was included in the price, and that it would therefore look strange if I wanted to pay extra for it.

The jobs are held back by them for such a reason and then released onto the job board when they cant use them as bribery. Once over before the recession all jobs were released and those that could not get done were offered at a premium rate. Oh happy days, never to return i feel.

I've never seen those jobs on the job board, I think they just keep them for this purpose. They called me yesterday to do 2 coffee jobs, one is 30 miles away , but they also gave me 2 petrol and 2 audit jobs that are in my area. Two of these jobs are for Sep!
