Did anyone watch undercover boss last nite on C4? The Isle of Wight resort that was on there is the top (and from the programme, the cleanest) park resort.
Any idea which one it was? Will have a look for next yrs hol.

Hi
Yes I watched it, it was very good!! I felt sorry for the yarmouth cleaners though!
On the park resort website it says they featured Lower Hyde.0 -
From Parks website "The 2 Holiday Parks featured are Lower Hyde, Isle of Wight, and Breydon Water in Norfolk. Scenes at our Head Office at Hemel Hempstead are also featured."Booo!!!0

Yes I watched it, and found it interesting, I know they can only show so much during the hour long programme.
BUT
The cook doing all the breakfasts on his, own, where was the catering manager?
Why was there no one to take the food out to the tables (waitress/ waiter)
Why did the cook have to wash all the plates as well, in what looked like a very small dishwasher, clearly unsuitable for the number of covers / plates.
Who took all the orders? could they not have taken the food out.
I wish the cook who is being sent to college all the best in the world good luck.
With regard to the cleaners at both sites, why was it that the IOW site, the cleaning manager was allowed to introduce her own cleaning rate of pay for the staff, all be it a good method to get a good standard, with out the general manager (or what ever he / she may be called) knowing about it , or Head Office knowing about ~~ again good luck to the lady to roll out her programme across the whole of the company, as clearly the GT Yarmouth site needs clear direction and motovation.
I just loved the board room bit, when 'Drew' said the cook did not have basic food hygiene certifcate, and the man in the board room said all staff in kitchen had it, I guess that was the Food and Bev manager covering his asse!

I watched it last night and thought it was great.
I agree with Kazwookie too. I felt a huge shame on the cook. He ws so laid back but worked his a$$ off. There should definately of been more people helping out.
I thought it was so funny when he took the female manager into the board room and basically said leave or you'll be gone next year. At the end it said she was now a receptionist!! Big step down for her eh?
It was really good to see and im glad they got to get their point across and said what they felt without realising he was a director because as he said, if they knew they wouldn't have opened up honestly with him.

Can't believe that manager was stupid enough to say she hates her job on camera. Wasn't as though it was a hidden camera either. Perhaps she is happier working on reception as she doesnt have to manage anyone else (some people just dont like the that kind of responsibility).
I had said to my wife when it started that it wasn't going to be an honest show at all because the cameras were not hidden but it looks like I was wrong.
Did they keep the catering/chef on ? It said they had found him a training course but that was only 1 day (a week?) and they said earlier on that he couldnt work for them without the hygine certificate (perhaps he is doing temp waitering) ? I would sack whoever took him on for failing to check he had the right credentials although the chef is a top notch guy !0 -
I tend not to see whats on channel 4 as they seem to have rubbish on like big brother.
Anyway just watched the catch up on line, thanks, and it gave you a good insight into what us holiday makers don't normally see, especially the cleaning side. I found it very interesting.
Are Park resorts and Hoseasons connected in someway because they seem to share the same parks.0 -
I have to say that over the last couple of years we've been to a Parks resort and a Haven (sun weekend) and have booked for Haven this summer for the week. I did this thinking that Haven would have more activities and stuff for the kids to do and on the basis of how much we enjoyed it ourselves as kids.
In hindsight I wish we'd booked Park again - when we went in April to Haven, you had to pay for everything, and the entertainment was pants. The accomodation was the same standard as Park, but with little things like a microwave missing that you think in this day and age would cost them nothing to include, but is sooo handy wen ur cooking for 5. When we'd paid double the price from Park, I didn't expect to be having to pay for all the extras.
I know we'll njoy Haven, cos life is what u make of it, but definitely will be choosing Park ova Haven nxt yr.
The programme just confirmed my ideal that just because u pay less doesn't mean u get less.0 -
we've done both Park and Haven - I'd love to go back to Park - a really lovely place. I was so glad he rewarded the team who'd done well.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
