Quick question on faulty product...

Brief history...
2 years ago we purchased a Startech Chrome Fuel cap for a PT Cruiser from a Chrysler garage in Wales who sold on ebay. We won the cap for £40 as opposed to book price of £140 or so.
Less than a year after purchase the chrome began to pit and peel so we took it back to our own Chrysler dealer who said it was faulty and replaced it with another one.
Once again, almost at a year the second cap has started to pit and peel. Took it back to our local Chrysler dealer again who are now scratching their heads at what to do as the cap has been discontinued because of all the faults.
Question is I guess, what can we expect? Chrysler do produce a chrome fuel cap that isn't startech that they may be willing to exchange.
As we have had 2 years use and only paid £40 Im not grumbling too much lol but would like to know what if anything Chrysler should do in this situation.
