Booked hotel accomodation & now they claim it's different?

Hi,
I don't know if anybody can help? I booked a self-catering room with Alpharooms last month for my hol in Majorca. They have just emailed me to say:
"Unfortunately it has come to our attention, that at the time of booking there was an error with the link between Alpharooms’ website and that of our suppliers. This resulted in your booking being made at the Room Only basis, and not at the Self Catering basis as thought.
I can confirm that the amount paid is for Room Only and subsequently your booking will be accommodated at this board basis."
I already have the accomodation voucher which states I have self-catering but they are saying this is not valid and I will get room only. I am very unhappy as I booked s/c so that I could cook my own meals while away [to save money!]. Now the other sites i was comparing at the time all the s/c prices have gone up so I can't afford them!
Is this right - can they just say sorry there was an error link and you will not get what you thought you paid for? I feel totally ripped off and don't know what to do. They have offered to cancel this, but this does not help at all as I still need somewhere to stay! I feel they should honour the original agreement as the mistake was theirs and I had no idea but they are saying NO!!!
Any advice please would be gratefull recieved! Thanks. Sam

I would write to them pointing out it's taken them a month to realise this, and since then, all other self catering accomodation options have gone up in price, so it's going to cost you <£amount> to now book something else.
Ask them to either pay the extra cost, or give you say £100 to pay for evening meals, lunches etc...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks but they have just responded I can either have the lesser room or cancel the booking and that's it. They say they are covered under 'typographilcal errors' in their T&CS I have pointed out that this was not a typo but do not seem to get anyway - am I wrong to expect to get what I thought I paid for???0

You certainly should get what you paid for!
Personally I would cancel and book with someone else. Alpharooms and some shocking reviews online, so make sure you post your review and let others know what they're like.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Just play them at their at their own game. Go on the holiday, use the voucher, if the hotel refuse to take it pay for the meals (assuming you have the means to) get receipts and then ask them to pay on your return or if they refuse take them to court for breach of contract.
Or inform them before you go that you will take them to court for the difference and you are happy to let a judge decide if it was a typo error or them just trying it on!0
