I have just connected on ALL of Martins recommended comparison sites for Gas/electricity. The answers I got back were very interesting. However when I dig deeper and compare the actual unit prices used to compare against my curent supplier they are higher than those on my current bills and hence look good. Is there any site that actually keeps up to date with current unit prices so that I can make an honest, real comparison?

Sometimes the unit rates can be higher, but the discounts are higher to, which make it cheaper. You need to take everything into account, not just the unit rates.

Hi liamdoogan, and welcome to MSE :hello:
Perhaps you'd like to give an example please?
Who is your current supplier, what tariff are you on with them and what are the unit prices on your bill? Also what supply area are you in please?
We get many posters here on MSE suggesting that the comparison sites are wong, but some hard evidence is rare, so your input would be most welcome."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Remember that the unit prices on your bills will exclude VAT as this is added later however the comparison websites might include VAT in the prices they display. Try adding 5% to the prices on your bills to see if they match the ones on the website0
