  • Could you ask for a holiday day?

I don't think a company can give you the push for having a day off for an interview surely, especially if you ask for unpaid leave.

Thanks for all the replies, it has reassured me a little.
I dont think I have any choice but to take Monday and Tuesday off sick. They wouldn't sign off a days holiday because of the appointment we have had booked for a few weeks you see.

If I told them I was going to an interview and then didnt get it, they would make my life hell!

I actually phoned in sick to a job interview! :D lol

Phoned the agency to tell them to ring the company and ask if it could be rescheduled, as i could hardly talk, and they wouldnt appreciate the germs.

It was fine, and i got the job!

To the OP, if its a job you really want, do what you can to go.

but I want this job SO much that I feel so sick and nervous about it.

You've pretty much answered your own question. I have to say, in that situation, I would. :)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • Go home early on Monday about an hour or so before you finish work citing sickness and then call in sick Tuesday morning but also tell them if you are feeling better during the day then you will come into work. Then go into work after your interview. At most you'll probably miss about 3/4 hours at work.
