semi cheaper than detached.
Some people aspire to detached living but lots of nasty new build "detached" fail my own personal opinion of a detached by only being an inch or two from their neighbour.
Happily my house was built in 1935. I'm not a lover of new builds either!0 -
Detached every time, preferably detached by at least 1/4 of a mile in all directions.
The only good neighbour is one decomposing on the living room floor.0 -
i had a flat once, which i loved, that was until the neighbors started hoovering on there laminated floor or they had a few friends rounds. the noise was unbearable. and this was advertised with solid 18 inch brick work.
and the service charges really start to grate on you after a while, there really is no limit to what they can charge you, and theres nothing you can do about it.
now i have a freehold detached and i would never go back through choice, if you have the opportunity then get the detached and stop talking about flats especially if you have a kid!
is there ever a choice between a flat and a detached house?0 -
Small children in flats can be tricky if there's no safe outside area for play, plus most flats attract service-charges and they can sometimes be through the roof if the leaseholders don't share the freehold and manage the building themselves.
I'd go for the semi-detached in a good area rather than a flat in the poshest, myself0
