bank charging for being OD

hi, hope this is in the right forum!
posting this on behalf of my manager who deosnt have pc access & no mse!!
ok she got a statement 3 days ago saying on 30th apr she was £4.91 OD. as she has 2 dd coming out of this account ( tsb i think )she put in £100 same day, therefore in credit.
The first dd was taken a few days later ( £24 .??) followed by OD charges of i think around £20.
The 2nd DD was taken (again in the £20 region) which left her still in credit.
However on the statement it has charged her £75 OD charges - leaving her again OD!
I know she isnt arguing the first OD payment but the £75 is another matter. The tsb havent been overly helpful - telling her its not their dept its this one, only to be referred back again to the original dept!
I told her to fight it & finally today they have told her she needs to pay back these charges plus £15 per day charges on top which has accumulated to around £160 for £4,51! They argued she had 3 seperate letters telling her of the OD charges which she denies. I know i cant say for sure if she got them i do know she is suffering hardship as her wages were cut by 15% recently so i cant believe she would bury her head so to speak.
Anyway i dont know if she can get any charges took back? I was thinking she could write to the manager of tsb & ask if the charges put on whilst they were 'dealing' with the matter could be written off & she pays the original charges.
Does anyone else have any ideas ?

    I would say ask the question of how the charges were incurred and whether they were for that one incident or was it for something else

    thanx 'nat' . as far as i know after listening too her calls & explainations, they are charging her over the one incident of £4.51 OD. they said she incurred charges of £15 each OD day, but this was after the £100 she put in on apr 30th dried up. It seems to me as if they have charged her being OD for 5 days (£75) even tho there were funds in, unless it takes cash 5 waiting days to show which i would not think it did unlike a cheque. I have told her to write to head office as she cant lose anything else, if only to tell them that she was sent back & forth to different depts, & thus getting accumulating charges. thanx again for your reply.

    Still worth going back to them and explaining that cash was paid in the following day in case a further error happened. I think you need to go to the bank with them and simply ask them to explain how this happened in a clam manner cos then you can start the process of reclaiming them knowing the full reason why they charged that amount.
