opening letter with initial negotiation

hi folks

i have just been looking into reclaiming my bank charges and i was wondering if it would be advisable to outline a settlement i would be content with in the initial letter to the bank

i have requested repayment of overdraft and excess overdraft charges from may 1999 with interest which amounts to approx £1600 thus leaving maximum room for negotiation

other relevant figures are below;
from july 2001 with interest £ 1094
from july 2001 without interest £ 745

i would be happy if my the bank used the repayment of charges to clear £840 which is on my credit card that is held with my bank

should i include this in my opening letter?

you advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks

    i dont have any debt in the areas you mentiond jut my 2 credit cards total approx 2400 and 2 loans currently approx 11000 owing

    i have just noticed the bank have been charging me a banking fee, £10.00 per month however checking their T+C's i should be exempt (waived not charged (whatever correct word is)

    therefore i will be writing them a letter tonight or tomorrow

    Without priority debt arrears they will acknowledge your claim but not pay out. I would deal with the second issue separately unless the unauthorised charges were the result of this £10 issue
