Booting from CD... .

I'm trying to reinstall XP and have my XP disk to hand. I've tried going into the BIOS and setting it to boot from CD drive first, but it just seems to look at the CD then boot from the hard drive normally. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong...? Thank you!

Have you pressed a key when prompted to boot from CD?0

What laptop is it as sometimes you have to access the boot menu either by pressing F10 or F12 when booting up (F key depends on make of laptop you have) then choosing to boot from CD and then when asked press a key to boot from CD rom.
Are you sure the CD is bootable though?0 -
You created the disc with nLite, yes? Did you burn the image properly? If there's a gigantic .ISO file on the disc you need to do it again.0

CD or CD rom drive is on the way out. Is it a copy CD? If so use an original CD.
If not. Look into booting from a USB flash drive or use a USB CD Rom.

Yeah, I burnt it properly. I've also tried the same thing with an original XP disk so I don't think it's my disk... .0 -

It's a Thinkpad T20. I've tried resetting the BIOS, also pressing F12... . Should I put the CD in after pressing F12 or before...?0 -
IBM I think its either F12 or the access key, a menu should appear and you can choose the device to boot from, put the CD in before you boot up as its easier. Let us know if you get this menu up.0
