dreadful situation for you to be in but i sense from your post that you have your head screwed on right and know that your ex is the one with the issues and not you.
Keep being strong for you and your son, you can hold your head high knowing you have only ever done the best for your son. Yes you made a mistake in choosing a spineless, tightfisted, selfish, immature man to father your child but we all make mistakes.
and i second that0 -
i appreciate your ex may be seriously ill, but surely you wouldnt advise your child that he is extremely ill because of a suicide attempt. I still think that is a lot of unnecessary baggage to put onto the child. What would it accomplish?????? I understand it is a very hard time, but I am sure it is definitely not necessary for the child at such a young age to know something like that.0

catnorfolk I think what she is trying to get at is the fact that she lives in a small place her kids go to the same school so whats worse, they find out from mum or they find out via gossip. tough one, I am one to bury my head in the sand and hope it all goes away, I have had limited success in this area. thats what I would do, say nothing and hope I dont have to explain myself. i'm a coward though and dont like telling people bad things. so I dont, doesnt mean that I shouldnt have done though.0

i dont mean to sound patronising so if i did then i apologise, but i feel that if this youngster's father is extremely ill then then the child would have enough to cope with if he loses his father. If he heard something through the grape vine that his dad did something stupid, then maybe there are ways of explaining this, because if that child thinks his dad tried to take his own life then that child will feel his father didnt want him on top of everything else. which then causes more problems later on in life for the PWC as well as the child. There are many ways of telling the truth!!!0
