Firstly, I am posting this for a friend, just trying to help her out best I can, and I know you guys are quite good for info.
Right the issue is this (i'll call her X):
X started working, and over the process of 9 months, has been in 3 stores with several managers (to help the company's needs), and her probation got extended because of this.
She is pregnant, nearly 7 months, and when she annouced her pregnacy at 3 months, it took the current manager quite a long time to do her risk assesment, and were not happy with her needing to take frequent breaks downstairs to sit down (no chairs on the salesfloor), and sickness, which has now being reviwed (she sufferred sickness and dizziness all through her pregnacy).
It has now gotton to the point the doctors are concerned about her working, and she has been temporairly signed off from ongoing stress from work pressure and pregnacy, but she is starting maternity leave in 6 weeks, personally i've been concerned about little things building up, but with the climate the way it is, and news is going around costs are being cut, and people with high absence are being reviewed, she's been flagged up for this, and also she's being informed that she'd going to be put on report to improve or disiplinary.
Little annoyed that we got proof that her manager is bullying her, which has been erased regretably. What I wished to know to pass onto her is what laws and information should she be aware of, and what could happen, is it possible to be dismissed for this? She has passed probation if the information helps. I can get more info if anyone needs it.
X and I thank anyone for any helpful information, thankyou. Also I apologise for spelling mistakes - i'm sure there's a couple.

you cant be disciplined etc for preg related illness, and as far as i am aware such related illnesses do not count when looking at redundancy criteria. Or at least they do not where i work - i think this is standard policy tho0

They can however start your friends maternity leave earlier if she has been off with preg related illnesses0

Yes, but that's only when you're 4 weeks or less from your due date.
I would be tempted to start ML early or get signed off by the docs.
A site I boringly recommend is Russell Jones and Walker. Get her to put her case details in here and someone will get in touch.
