Saw a LG 42inch HD Television today in a high street shop. and the picture was just incredible, the detail and sharpness is astonishing, when you look at other tellys it's like looking through frosted glass, but the price was £1750
For once the product lives up to the hype.

..............to this you have to add the £299 for your Sky HD box, and pay £10 a month in additional subscription for the HD programmes.
Since the Sky HD box has built in Sky plus there is another £10 a month for that. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Very true
HDTV is impressive, but there is nothing other than the XBox 360 to warrant its purchase right now
With analogue signals turning off, these HDTVs will soon become a necessity rather than a luxury soon - with prices piledriving down. £299 + £10 (for Sky+ which I think you need to take) + £10 (Sky HD) + the normal costs you pay for Sky Sports/Movies is not exactly affordable. I will love to see the World Cup in HD, but I think I will give it a miss this year
Really, we should be boycotting Sky for charging us these extortionate prices:mad:
EDIT: But if you are thinking of getting a new TV, you should invest in a HD one....no point spending your hard earned cash on a SD one0 -

A complete waste of capacity, if you ask me.
Oh, you weren't?What goes around - comes around0 -
I odered my sky HD box the day it came out....Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and fat.
:coffee:0 -
My guess No-one. ;-)
The boxes say HD ready - that means - whenever someone does broadcast in HD then your TV can handle it.
Sky will launch an HD service later this year - but only about 5 or 6 channels.
Current industry estimates - 2012 before it becomes mainsteam.
If your telly is bust - then sure get an HD ready one, but I really wouldn't go out an buy one now just for the sake of it.
( oh and yes - I did buy a 42 inch plasma 2 years ago £2500 then - now you can pick them up for a song, give it another year or so and they will be pocket money items ).
Cheers
