Anyone any idea?

Hi
I made a claime for JSA on 31st March. A couple of weeks back I got a letter saying that I had not paid enough NI contributions for JSA and as my partner works (she is a low paid NHS employee!) I cannot get income based allowance. Basically the local Job Centre has told me that that's it. I get nothing. I made a comment that if I was a different colour and just turned up at Heathrow claiming asylum I would be showered with benefits at which point I think I nearly got slung out. However I am a 51 year old UK citizen who has paid tax and NI for 33 years and some years lots of it. Anyone got any idea where I go next or are they right and thats it for me??

Were you paying Self-Employed contributions?
If not then you might have a chance if you can produce P60's from an employed that will show how much NIC's you have paid.
I hope you get !!!! all though if your xenophobic comments are what you actually believe.0 -
You can dispute it if you think you have paid enough NI in the relevant period, you will need P60 or wage slips from employer. Self employed contributions usually don't count. Otherwise you may be entitled to other benefits. Check at entitledto.co.uk. Btw asylum seekers have to go through same benefits process as everyone else and the colour of your skin makes no difference. Try to remain calm and not make racist comments if you want help.Halifax £744 and coming down0

If you make ignorant, racist comments like this at the Jobcentre I'm not surprised they almost threw you out. That sort of comment is equally unwelcome on here!0
