24,35,67,45,..can't remember the rest..now wouldn't that be funny if..

99% , I've always bought "scabbier" houses and turned them into what I wanted.

There are always opportunities, I just hope I don't end up broke trying them all. I have a growing family and want to give them the best (who doesn't) I've seen the housing market drop before with interest at 15%, borrowing money from friends to save loosing the house. I'm in a very different position now but ther's no need for me to be complacent.

Boring, maybe, an idiot never. At least I grow boring knowing I only upset only the small minded!

Sarah, Thanks for your views, they are most welcome. With a post count of 1000+ then someone must have a wealth of knowledge someone may be listening to. I look forward to my millenium, but I will do it helping someone!

Think for a while... if you invested 300k in the stockmarket and it started to fall, you take your money out that day (minute) You can't do that with a house, it takes months to sell.
When you see the bandwagon, it's too late to jump on it (or off
    )

The first 2 quotes are from the original post. They don't exactly blend into a cohesive argument - and I haven't taken them out of context.

The 3rd quote is in response to 'what are tonights lottery numbers?'. Hate to point out that '67' won't win you, or us, any prizes !! So won't ask you for any Stock Market hot tips :o

If you take your money out as soon as the stockmarket wobbles, then you shouldn't be investing in it in the first place.

Unfortunately we have to many foreigners coming over now, largely requiring housing paid for them by the government....which means there are effectively less houses about.

Stop believing what you read in newspapers for a start. Can you define your terms, explain and give any figures to back what you say?

You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

 There were 30,500 asylum applications in the UK last year. That's hardly enough to have any effect on the housing market at all. 360,000 Britons emigrated last year - there's still room for us all!

I suggest that the next time you post you use your brain. Might help.

Now repeat this mantra after me: House price rise goood, house price fall baaaaad.

Think about it: I earn above average wage and can't afford a house in this country. A doubt that a cockle picker is going to be competing against me for any over inflated studio bedsit.

Besides, economic migration works in both directions. When the economy is doing well they come in. When it takes a downturn, they leave again, making any recession 1 thousand times worse.

Bob, i dont need to define terms etc... I'm just making a point of one reason why house prices are high... There are lots of them. Why are people getting so stressy about it? Shesssch....

There was 30500?? successful applications... Lots more are currently in progress. Still 30500 is still 30500 houses less then there would of been. Its still the same as a small-medium size town a year.

"Net migration into the UK has averaged 166,000 a year
over the last 7 years. [1]" https://www.migrationwatch.co.uk Thats a medium-large size town every year.

And mean-machine, they cant afford it. The government often pays,
