in Credit cards
Hi, this is my first time using this site.
i will explain the situation and hopefully someone can help me.
my boyfriend and i are going to America at the end of July and as it is a holiday of a lifetime we were wanting to get a credit card to use while we were away for certain things that we wouldnt have cash for. hopefully with long interest free repayment or low interest free repayment.
he also a debt that he is wanting to transfer the balance onto an interest free card?
should we get two cards? or one?

2 cards, dont mix BT with purchases is the general rule.
As for overseas, the best card is Nationwide which has no foreign exchange fees, and a very good exchange rate and think they currently have a 0% offer on.
However you dont say how long you'll be gone, but you could make online payments to the card whilst away, as all cards will require you make minimum monthly repayments.0 -
Also meant to say, you can't have a "joint" CC, so you probably need one each anyway (depending on how trusting you are etc)0

Yes, 9 months 0% on purchases. Don't use it to draw cash. For this (you cannot pay by a CC everywhere) it is worth getting Nationwide cash or debit card.HGLTsuperstar wrote:...think they currently have a 0% offer on.
IMO the best way to make minimum payments whilst away (and whilst in UK) is a Direct Debit. Internet cafe is too dangerous place for online banking.but you could make online payments to the card whilst away
Regarding BTs see Balance Transfers link in the blue box above and http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm .
A word of warning. You already have debt. Don't spend a lot on the credit card. Many regulars of the Debt-Free Wannabe board ( ) started with borrowing for 'a holiday of a lifetime ' ....0
